The Program
The scholarship recipients are given the opportunity to live at Avelan for a set period. Participants are expected to actively contribute to a harmonious and productive atmosphere within the residency, fostering an inspiring sense of community. The program aims to strengthen individual identities and refine existing artistic characteristics. Its overarching goal is to promote art and culture.
The Stay
Information on the Stay within the LOA Residency
The LOA Residency typically lasts three to four weeks. The exact duration is arranged individually. Fellows receive a weekly grant of €500, which will be transferred retrospectively to the designated account.
Arrival and Departure
Arrival and departure are organized independently by the fellows. Upon submission of the corresponding receipts, we will cover travel expenses up to a maximum of €500. Additionally, we can arrange pick-up from Marseille Airport or Avignon train station.
Mobility on Site
A car is available for shared use among the fellows, enabling both personal mobility and exploration of the region.
Accommodation and Infrastructure
Fellows are accommodated free of charge in Avelan. They will stay in a furnished room with a private bathroom. In addition, a fully equipped kitchen, several common areas, and spacious outdoor areas are available, providing ideal conditions for creative exchange and collaborative work. Please note that indoor spaces cannot be used for painting.
Artistic Opportunities
A special highlight of the residency is the opportunity for selected fellows to perform at the nearby Hotel Coquillade. A grand piano is also located there, freely available for use, offering excellent working conditions especially for musicians.
Use of Grant Funds
The grant is intended exclusively for artistic work and for costs related to artistic activities, such as the conception, production, or completion of the respective projects. The supported artists are obliged to make their artistic work publicly visible in an appropriate form – for example, through an exhibition, a performance, or other presentation formats.
Who Should Apply
The LOA Residency grant is aimed at artists working in the fields of vocal performance, instrumental music (including quartets and quintets), as well as German-language literature and art. Groups of artists working on a joint project are also welcome to apply together in order to realize their visions in this creative environment.
